BMW is kicking off spring 2025 with some exciting updates across its model range. From energy-efficient electric powertrains to enhanced standard features and expanded options, the brand is keeping its line-up sharp, versatile, and ready for the future. Here’s what you can look forward to.
Electric BMW i5 Models Get a Boost
BMW’s all-electric i5 range, including the Sedan and Touring, is now more efficient than ever. Thanks to silicon carbide semiconductor components and low-rolling-resistance tyres paired with aerodynamic alloy wheels, the i5 gains up to 47 additional kilometres of range. Energy consumption is reduced by up to 9%, depending on the model.
The i5 M60 xDrive now includes the M Sport package Pro as standard, while all 5 Series models gain ambient lighting with the BMW Interaction Bar, lumbar support for front seats, and a Harman Kardon HiFi system. Even small details, like high-gloss black switchgear, add a touch of refinement.
BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé Adds Two New Variants
The 2 Series Gran Coupé gets a broader line-up this spring. The new entry-level 216 Gran Coupé is powered by a 122hp three-cylinder engine, hitting 0-100 km/h in 9.9 seconds, making it an accessible gateway into BMW’s sporty world. At the other end, the 223 xDrive Gran Coupé combines a 218hp mild-hybrid system with all-wheel drive, achieving a swift 0-100 km/h in 6.4 seconds.
To top it off, the iconic glowing kidney grille can now be ordered as part of an Innovation package, adding a striking touch after dark.
BMW X3 Welcomes a Six-Cylinder Diesel
From May 2025, the BMW X3 40d xDrive joins the range as the most powerful diesel option. Its six-cylinder mild-hybrid engine produces 303hp and 670Nm of torque, sprinting from 0-100 km/h in 5.4 seconds. This addition adds serious punch to the X3’s already versatile line-up.
Better Charging and Smarter Keys
Plug-in hybrid models, including the BMW X1, 2 Series Active Tourer, 7 Series, and XM, now support faster AC charging, cutting charging times significantly with rates boosted from 7.4 kW to 11 kW.
Meanwhile, BMW Digital Key Plus becomes standard on the iX. It allows up to 18 individual digital keys, which can even restrict acceleration or top speed – a great feature for families with younger drivers.
Tyre Repair Made Simple
BMW introduces the “Tyre Repair Kit Plus,” now standard on select models. This handy kit makes dealing with a puncture easier, allowing drivers to continue their journey for up to 200 kilometres at speeds of 80 km/h.
More Standard Features Across Models
- X5 and X6: Adaptive LED headlights now come as standard.
- X7: Parking Assistant Professional is now included.
- M5: Interior options expand with two new Merino Leather finishes and upgraded trim details.
- 2 Series Active Tourer and X1: New 17-inch light alloy wheels join the line-up.
What It All Means
BMW’s updates for spring 2025 focus on improving efficiency, offering greater customisation, and adding premium features as standard. Whether it’s extended electric range, faster charging, or smart features like the Digital Key Plus, these changes make BMW’s latest line-up more practical, powerful, and tech-forward than ever.
