If you’re heading home for Christmas and looking for the perfect spot to take a break, the Celtic Manor Resort in Newport is an excellent choice. Conveniently located just off the M4 and a mere 20 minutes from the Prince of Wales Bridge, it offers an ideal pit stop for rest and festivities.
A Charging Haven for Electric Vehicles
For EV owners, the Celtic Manor has you covered with a Tesla Supercharger bank, located in the Roman Road outdoor car park. This facility boasts 12 V3 Supercharger stalls that add up to 75 miles of range in just five minutes, with charging rates reaching up to 1,000 miles per hour. And the best part? The car park is free for up to three hours, giving you ample time to recharge while you stretch your legs.
Non-Tesla vehicles are also welcome to use these Superchargers, making it an inclusive option for all EV drivers. The Superchargers are a short stroll from the Resort Hotel’s front foyer, so you can easily make use of the resort’s amenities during your stop.
Parking Options for Petrol and Diesel Vehicles
If you’re driving a petrol or diesel car, the resort’s underground car park is available for use. Be aware, though, that this parking option comes at a cost: £2 for the first hour. However, if you’re planning to make your pride and joy sparkle for the season, the resort offers a car valeting service. While I haven’t tried it myself, it’s worth enquiring if you need your vehicle spruced up — though you may need to pre-book.
Festive Magic at the Celtic Manor
What truly sets the Celtic Manor apart as a pit stop is its array of festive activities. The resort’s Christmas offerings are nothing short of magical, making it a great place to relax and soak up the seasonal spirit.
One highlight is the return of Drinks at the Domes, a rooftop garden pop-up perfect for the festive season. Picture this: sipping on seasonal cocktails (or mocktails if you’re driving) and dining under the stars in one of five private heated igloos. Nestled against the stunning backdrop of Coldra Woods, this experience is available until 5th January 2025.
For family fun, the indoor synthetic Glice rink is making a comeback from mid-December. Located at ICC Wales on the same site, it’s a great way to enjoy some winter-themed activities during your stop.
Ample Space, Minimal Crowds
Despite its popularity, the Celtic Manor Resort rarely feels overcrowded. There’s plenty of room to enjoy the facilities without the stress of large crowds, ensuring a pleasant and relaxing visit.
Plan Your Festive Pit Stop
Whether you’re stopping to recharge your EV, indulge in festive dining, or simply enjoy a break from your journey, the Celtic Manor Resort offers something for everyone. Its combination of convenience, festive charm, and thoughtful amenities make it a standout choice for Christmas travellers. So, why not make your journey home this holiday season a little more magical with a stop at the Celtic Manor?
