Zeekr has announced that the Zeekr X compact luxury SUV has been awarded Euro NCAP’s prestigious Best in Class Award for Small SUV and Pure Electric Vehicles. This recognises the Zeekr X’s position not only as the safest vehicle in its segment tested by Euro NCAP in 2024, but also the safest EV of all those tested that year.
The Best in Class award is determined by the weighted sum of the scores in each of the four areas of Euro NCAP’s assessment. The Zeekr X excelled in all of these, achieving 91% for Adult Occupant Protection, 90% for Child Occupant Protection, 84% for Vulnerable Road User Protection, and 83% for Safety Assist.
Advanced Technology Design to Protect
In May 2024, the Zeekr X was awarded the maximum five-star Euro NCAP safety rating, thanks to its advanced engineering and cutting-edge technologies. Developed using the Sustainable Experience Architecture (SEA) platform for pure electric vehicles, the Zeekr X features a robust body structure that provides exceptional crash protection, complemented by a comprehensive suite of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS).
These ADAS technologies include Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), a Driver Monitoring System (DMS) to alert drivers showing signs of fatigue or distraction, Child Presence Detection (CPD) designed to warn drivers of the presence of children or pets inadvertently left in the rear seats, and a Post-Collision Braking System that can reduce the risk of secondary collisions by applying the brakes after an initial impact.
The Zeekr X also demonstrated its ability to protect occupants in extreme situations, such as submersion in water. If the vehicle loses power while submerged, its doors remain operable for up to two minutes, and the electric windows stay functional long enough to allow occupants to escape.
Established in 1996 with the aim of improving vehicle safety, Euro NCAP annually awards the best-scoring cars with the “Best in Class” title, helping consumers choose the safest vehicles for their needs. To determine the ‘Best in Class’ rating, Euro NCAP calculates a weighted sum of scores in four safety evaluation areas: Adult Occupant, Child Occupant, Pedestrian and Safety Assist. This total is used to compare cars. Cars qualify for ‘Best in Class’ based on their ratings with standard safety equipment.
